Definition of a Homebody:
“a person who likes to stay at home, especially one who is perceived as unadventurous”
Ok…rude Oxford Dictionary??
Personally I don’t see anything wrong with not wanting to be adventurous, at least in the classic definition of it. You can’t compare the adventurous spirit of someone who goes bungee jumping versus the one who finally found the courage to try that super hard knitting pattern, or bake something they’ve always been intimidated by!
If you enjoy staying in and reading a good book rather than going to a concert, I made this bucket list with YOU in mind my friend!
It seems like all bucket lists have adrenaline pumping, galavanting across the world boxes to check. While those are worthwhile, and I would still encourage you to do some of them, it can be nice to still accomplish goals while in the comfort of your happy place.
Here’s my list of 10 things you and your fellow homebodies can do to accomplish fun, relaxing and rewarding goals, while still being close enough to the kitchen for snacks!
1. Create Time for Learning
Let’s start with an easy one! Set aside devoted time every day/week/month to learn something new. It can be dedicated to anything you want to learn! This is an amazing way to keep your curiosity alive with a new book, article, blog, etc.
2. Learn to Knit or Crochet, or Both!
One of my personal all time favorite pastimes. Tea, an audiobook and a blanket to crochet?! Could you ask for a better relaxing and cozy passtime?! Both knitting and crochet have their pros and cons. Do some digging on YouTube to see which one fits you best. You can make jackets, bags, shirts, scarves, just about anything from a crochet granny square, and they’re so easy to make! Easy beginner knitting projects range from beanies to blankets and more.
Here are some of my favorite creators on YouTube that help make the learning curve not so curvy!
-Very Pink Knits
-The Crochet Crowd
3. Watch the Sunrise/Sunset
Not only do these activities in themselves help regulate your circadian rhythm, they are one of the ultimate ways to start and end your day! Making time for a sunrise gets you up and at ‘em early in the morning (earlier than we’d like at some points in the year) and can help set healthy sleep habits. The best part? You can totally do this from your east or west facing windows! Bonus points if you make it outside!
4. Do a Paint By Number
Coming from someone who isn’t particularly gifted in the arts department, painting can be considered a take it or leave it activity. Even if you join me in the artistically challenged department, there are still ways you can reap the benefits of the artist’s mind. Paint by number has gone up significantly in quality over the last couple of years. I even have a few that I’ve done hung up in my house! Amazon is a great place to find quality paint by numbers people will think you’ve actually painted from scratch! Plus the mindless filling in blanks with your favorite colors is super satisfying!
5. Canning
For the one who is wanting to take a crack at a more vintage activity. Canning isn’t just for the homesteaders with endless buckets of peaches to put away for winter. It’s also for the people who maybe got too many peaches at the store because they looked oh so good. Waterbath canning is an easy and cost effective way to break into the canning world. All you need are jars and a large enough stock pot to cover said jars with water! You can do jams, jellies, pickled veggies, pie fillings, the list goes on! An added perk is you can enjoy your creations much longer than if you had only stored them in the fridge!

6. Ferment Your Own Veggies
Why buy expensive probiotic supplements when you can make your own at home for CENTS?! Ferments can be an acquired taste, but their benefits can’t be beat! Babysitting ferments basically consists of checking them once a day to be sure that air has escaped (no fermentation bombs please) and that they aren’t spilling their contents over onto your counter. 7. Create Your Ultimate Reading List
A goal within a goal! Take time to finally put down in writing all the books you would like to read or reread! Set a time limit, or try to complete within your lifetime. Get creative and step out of your comfort zone! Have you mostly stuck with romances lately? Pick a thriller or a classic! Have you been reading Harry Potter for the 6th time in a row? Try out a new coming of age adventure!

8. Bake or Cook a Seasonal Classic
No matter what season you’re in, you can always bake something nostalgic! You’ve never made apple pie? Learn how to this fall! Try a peach cobbler in the summer, chicken pot pie or a roast dinner in winter, and a fresh and crisp spring salad with a homemade dressing can keep you grounded in whatever season you’re in! 9. Organize Your Space
A necessary evil. But if you write it on your bucket list you get to cross it off when you’re done! Seriously though, go organize your junk drawer, closet, kitchen Tupperware bin, they all need tender love and care! You will be so much happier in a clean and orderly space. And I’m willing to bet it will take a lot less time than you think!
10. Try Meditation
Meditation can be a useful tool in becoming more self aware, calm, and collected. YouTube has a great library of meditation videos that you can try for free! They can range from one minute to an hour. Whatever you have time for you can find. Try it and see your stress melt away, while creating an amazing habit for a healthy and happy mind.
10 goals, 10 new things to try, all while not leaving your house! Stay safe out there my fellow homebodies, the world is a chaotic busy place. Keep your peace and let me know if you try out any of these bucket list ideas!
